Phosphate Mines Company Donates JD600,000 CT Scanner to Ma’an Public Hospital

Amman, Sept. 10 (Petra) -- Chair of the Jordan Phosphate Mines Company (JPMC) Mohammad Thneibat on Thursday inspected a state-of-the-art CT scanner donated by the company to Ma’an Public Hospital at a cost of approximately JD600,000, as part of its continued support for the governorate’s health sector.

During a visit to the hospital, Thneibat was briefed on the scanner’s operation and the diagnostic services it provides to patients. The total value of modern medical equipment and devices donated by the JPMC to the hospital is estimated at JD1.3 million, aimed at improving healthcare and expanding the hospital’s diagnostic and treatment capabilities.

The support includes specialized equipment for the ophthalmology clinic, including fundus imaging and lens extraction and implantation devices, a laser device for urological procedures, and a laboratory device capable of detecting bacterial growth in record time at a cost of JD250,000. The JPMC also provided 30 modern medical beds at a cost of JD75,000.

The company had previously supplied the hospital with two intensive care unit ventilators and accessories at a cost of approximately JD50,000.

Thneibat stressed the importance of equipping the hospital with modern medical technology to improve healthcare standards and expand access to advanced diagnostic services for residents of Ma’an.

He directed that procedures be completed to replace the hospital’s remaining 120 beds, at an estimated cost of JD300,000, and to complete training for radiology staff on operating the CT scanner.

Thneibat affirmed the JPMC’s continued support for Ma’an’s health sector and its commitment to addressing priority needs, saying such initiatives help strengthen local healthcare services and reduce the need for patients to seek treatment outside the governorate.

He described the company’s support for the hospital as part of its national and social responsibility and an investment in the health and quality of life of local residents.

Ma’an Governor Khaled Hajjaj praised the JPMC’s support, saying the provision of modern medical equipment and the planned replacement of hospital beds would contribute to improving healthcare services for residents of the governorate.

Hospital Director Walid Rawad also expressed appreciation for the JPMC’s continued support, noting its positive impact on diagnostic and treatment services and highlighting the importance of public-private partnerships in meeting local healthcare needs.
